Mo is our official mascot. He has solid, well-formed conformation and he passes that along to his progeny. He has a wonderful friendly disposition and loves people. In fact, he doesn't know he is a donkey--he actually believes he IS a person! Mo loves to be petted and kissed. He will come right up to you and put his head on your shoulder. If he could manage to climb into your lap, he would do it. He can be ridden by even the smallest children. To know him is to love him!
Hear the Donkey Song!! Mo's famous bray has forever been imortalized by songwriter Scott Rose in his song "The Donkey Song" Click Here to download a copy of the song!

Cash was our first foal of 2005. He was born around 8:45 in the evening on a Saturday night. He was a playful, friendly foal with a lot of his daddy's personality. Cash is probably going to turn out to be a gray roan when he grows up. He suffered an injury after his castration and was traumatized by the procedure. He has fully recovered from it now, but he is a bit of a "special needs" donkey now. For the full story, please visit our FOR SALE page. Serious inquiries only.

Kaycie was born at 9:45pm on May 31, 2003. She was a very outgoing foal from the very beginning. Even as she was being born, she was struggling to crawl out on her own. She was also grunting and "talking" and announcing her own birth as she was being born. It was a difficult birth for Jodi and she even got stuck half-way through the process. We chose the name Kaycie because the name actually means alert & vigorous. We thought that was extremely appropriate in this case. The next morning after her birth, Kaycie was extremely friendly and playful and not a bit afraid of people.
When she was two months old, Kaycie was involved in an accident
where her face was cut so severely it had to be stitched completely across her
face.
The accident was so traumatic that her mother rejected her after she was treated
by the vet. Kaycie was orphaned by her mother at 2 only months old. We
put a yearling jennet
with her as a surrogate mom and we
hand-raised her with sweet feed and calf-manna. After a month, when the
stitches were removed and her face had healed well enough to put her back with
the rest of the donkeys, we tried to incorporate her back into the herd.
The herd attacked her and chased her into a barb-wire fence. Kaycie's face
was cut deeply again across her nose and it required stitches again. She
had to remain separate from the herd until she was 11 months old. However, this little girl maintained the same
sweet attitude even after all that she had been through.
Today, Kaycie is 3 years old. Her face has healed up so well, you almost can't tell she was ever injured. She has been living with the herd for 2 years now and is doing great! She has the most spunky disposition and she loves people! She has become my official mascot. I love her so dearly that I could never part with her. She thinks she is a person and not a donkey! Even with all the adversity she has had to deal with in her short life, this young lady has managed to come through it all with the best attitude. My ambition is to someday show her in the halter class for jennets at the Fort Worth Stock Show. Some current pictures of Kaycie are shown below:

Cody was born in the late afternoon on April 25, 2003. He is a very shy donkey. He is socializing very well with the other donkeys now that he is weaned from his mother. He is VERY wooly right now with his winter coat, but he should slick out to be a white/gray roan. He is being halter broken and taught to lead. Cody is very shy around people, and it became even worse after he was castrated, so we are trying to help him overcome his fears with positive reinforcement and TLC. Cody is being offered for sale at this time. For more information, visit our DONKEYS FOR SALE PAGE or send an email.
Update: Cody is doing very well! He approaches people now and lets strangers pet him on the face out in the field. He is getting less and less shy of people every day. He takes treats from strangers without hesitation now and even pushes other donkeys out of the way to get to the treats! This is a major improvement over the fearful behavior he was showing before. He is starting to act much more like a regular donkey now. He lets me touch his ears and put my arms around his neck as well. He is well on his way to being a regular guy!

Born: March 8, 2007
Sire: TLL Sir Elmo
Dam: TLL Millinnium Millie
Black jack with light points. (immature height)
cross & stripe, leg garters all four legs
ADMS Registration TBD
Jack is the first foal of 2007. His mother Millie is very shy and she is not letting me get very close to the baby yet. I did manage to pet him a little bit, but she is being very protective of him right now. He is very pretty with his dark color, but you can still see the cross and stripe and leg garters on him. He does have a tiny bit of white on his nose. I hope that Millie will relax a bit and let me get closer to him in the near future. He has not shedded out his foal coat yet and now he is very sun bleached. His coat is sort of a chocolatey color. The last picture above is a current one taken on 7/17/07. He is still extremely reclusive and does not want to be approached by people. He still has not been castrated yet either.

Bella was the last foal for 2006. She is a very friendly foal with beautiful markings. She has her mother's color and both her mother and father's temperament. She is very calm and playful. She will walk right up to you for scratching. I named her Bella because when I first saw her I thought she was very beautiful.

Heather was the first foal born here at the Lazy L. When we purchased Dusti we didn't know she was already pregnant with Heather. Her sire was a spotted jack. Heather is the most gentle and docile donkey we have here. So far, all of her foals have been white. She is genetically spotted so we were hoping for some spotted babies, but maybe next year!!

Born: 1992 -- 44" tall
Standard Russet/Sorrell jennet
Cross & stripe, full leg garters, white points
ADMS Registration #E-9914
Dusti is a beautiful russet/sorrell jennet. She has a great friendly attitude, and she is very gentle. She can be ridden, but we usually don't ride our breeding jennets. She has a great personality, and she passes that trait along to her offspring. Dusti loves to have her rear end scratched for as long as you are willing to scratch it. Dusti had her first foal of 2004 in March, a jack we named Harley. Dusti had a jack foal in 2006 who turned out to be a pure white foal with blue eyes. Sadly, we lost that foal as a result probably of the lethal white gene. He only lived 2 weeks. He was a beautiful foal, we are deeply saddened by the loss. Dusti will be given a break to recover and then be bred to Mo again some time in 2007.

We purchased Millie in January 2002. She is a beautiful spotted girl. Millie has a friendly disposition and will follow you around like a puppy. She is very shaggy with her remaining foal and winter coat. She should slick out nicely next year. Millie is a half sister to Prissy, but her personality is much more relaxed and she is a bit shy. Millie delivered a cute jack foal on March 8, 2007.

Hotie was born at 9:15 p.m. on May 9, 1999. He was sold in May 2000, to a family in Stockton, California. In October 2002, the family informed me that they wanted to sell Hotie. We made arrangements to purchase him back. He arrived back in Texas on November 9, 2002. The top two pictures show Hotie as a foal and weanling. The bottom two are current. It appears as though he may have been mistreated a bit while he was in California. He was also confined to a very small pen with no grass and no companion animals. It has taken him a while to adjust to normal donkey life again. He is a real character around here, he LOVES his treats!! Hotie and Jodi both went to live with the same family in Rhome, TX.

Zena was born about 11:45pm on a Saturday night. I was fortunate enough to be there for the birth and see her enter this world and everything went very well without any major problems. Zena is very friendly and likes people. She comes right up to people for petting and scratching. She enjoys a good neck scratch and a good rump scratching. Zena is an absolute delight! Unfortunately, Zena was weaned a month early because her mother, Jezebel passed away suddenly and unexpectedly due to acute pneumonia. Zena was sold to the Worthey's in Silsbee, Texas to go live on a Spanish Mustang ranch and eventually be cross-bred with the mustangs.

Bunnie was born on Good Friday. She is very sweet and seems to enjoy being scratched and petted. She was a bit shy at first, but after a bit of bonding time, she allowed me to put the halter on her without any trouble at all. Her first leading lesson went without any trouble either. She is a very nice donkey. She gets along very well with the other animals and she loves attention. Bunnie is so sweet and gentle, she would be a perfect companion animal for a horse or another donkey. She has the most loving and sweet personality. I really enjoy her company. She is a real gem. Bunnie was sold to the Worthey's in Silsbee, Texas to go live on a Spanish Mustang ranch and eventually be cross-bred with the mustangs.

Jasmine was born at 3:30am on June 11, 2002. She is a very outgoing jennet with a bold personality. She is halter trained, leads pretty well and will load in a trailer fairly easily. She is currently quite the fur monster with a thick winter coat. I sometimes wonder how she can see where she is going. Her face is so fluffy! Jasmine is quite intelligent and she has a beautiful face and wonderful conformation. She spent a whole year serving as a surrogate mother to Kaycie, who was orphaned by her mother after she was injured in 2003.

Harley was born March 31, 2004. He is a friendly, curious foal. He was several hours old when I first discovered he had been born. When I first approached him, he walked right up to me and touched my hand with his muzzle. He was very curious about me and let me pet him immediately. After some good neck scratching, he instantly became my very good friend. On subsequent visits to the pasture, he would come right up to me for more scratching. He seems to be a very friendly baby. He is an interesting color, with beautiful markings. This Harley comes custom with racing stripes!! During weaning, he cut his ear on the fence while trying to nurse through the fence. The cartilage did not heal so now he has a split ear on his left ear. It does not cause him any pain, it just has about a 1-inch split at the tip and folds down a little. I think it gives him his own unique character. He is accepting the halter very well and is progressing on his leading skills.

Dixie is our last foal of 2004. Although she was friendly as a newborn, she has become a bit wild as a weanling. She doesn't appear to have any dark points or markings at this time except for a very faint gray stripe on her tail. She is very healthy and current on deworming. Due to personal issues and divorce, I did not have time to spend training her properly and getting her halter trained.

Misty is a spunky lady. She got her name from the white spots forming a large capital "M" and "T" on her rump. She has been with us for the last four years and was pasture bred to Mo for the first time in February 2002. Her slender build and long legs produce a very beautiful baby. Her second foal, born in may of 2005, was a jack foal named Jaxon. He is a fully frosted white jack. He has Misty's slender build and long legs. He also has a couple of spots. Misty was sold, along with Jaxon to a very nice couple in Waxahachie, TX.

Jaxon was born on a Friday night. He's a playful, foal with a lot of his daddy's looks and his mom's personality. His mom is a bit shy so its a little difficult for me to get close to him, but when I knelt down next to them, he came running right up to me for some attention. His cross is frosted over which makes it appear more brown than black. He looks to have some light spots which may come out more once he sheds his foal coat. Jaxon is a real cutie. He was sold along with her mother to a nice couple in Waxahachi, TX.

The top left picture was taken when Hershey was approximately 3 hours old. The picture at top right is Hershey at just over a year old. Hershey was sold to a very nice couple in Oklahoma in 1999. Unfortunately, they were unable to keep him and we purchased him back in 2000. Hershey was then sold to a family in Paradise, Texas on April 14, 2001 where he was a family pet and guardian of goats! Above are two recent photos of Hershey with a few friends. On the right, Hershey's friend Angel spent her time standing on his back. Hershey's family had to move to New Mexico and didn't have room to take him with them. We purchased him back again on March 13, 2004. Finally, it appears that Hershey will have a forever home with his new family in Keller, TX. He is going to live with them starting on March 28, 2004.

Buster was born in the early morning hours of March 15, 2003. He is a very strong and lively youngster but he was very shy on his first day. After about 4 days he came out of his shell, and now he loves attention. He is very attractive with a slender build and a beautiful head. He has nice conformation with straight legs and a nice gait. Buster has been weaned and castrated. He has a lot of personality and we really enjoy his playful antics. He is halter broken and is working on his leading skills at this time. He was sold to the same family that purchased Casper in 2003. On February 21, 2004, he left to join Casper in Elk City, Oklahoma to help wean horse foals on a big horse farm. He will have a very good home there with plenty of attention.

Casper was born in the afternoon on Halloween 2001. Casper started his halter and leading training at 3 months old and he is becoming quite proficient. He has also learned to load into the horse trailer. He has had three trims by the farrier and he handles it like a pro. He enjoys being petted and scratched, and he is almost an exact carbon copy of his daddy, in both looks and personality. Casper is a really sweet donkey. Casper was sold to a very nice family in Elk City, Oklahoma on June 25, 2003. He will be a birthday present for a lovely 9 year old girl. He can look forward to many years of spoiling and attention as a family pet. UPDATE: The two pictures on the bottom are current pictures provided by Casper's new family on February 21, 2004. Savannah has been sold to a couple and has gone to live in Whitesboro, TX along with her half-brother Dakota. Above is a recent picture of Savannah. I found out in August 2002 that Mo Jr. is living near Denton with a herd of jennets and he is producing some very nice donkey foals. Sounds like he takes after his daddy in more ways than one!!

At her new home, she will be protecting a herd of sheep. She will also have a nice jack to keep her company. We heard from Missy's family on May 11, 2001 that she delivered a beautiful grey-dun jack foal. Above is a picture of Missy with her first baby.
